Yates Media, founded in 1938 by local East Texas radio pioneer and businessman Darrell Yates, is a privately owned company with corporate headquarters in Lufkin, TX. Yates Media marked the introduction of electronic media to the deep East Texas area. Certainly, it was a good indication that the region was becoming more economically progressive. For the first time local businesses, churches, and other groups had the opportunity to take advantage of local airwaves to communicate their products and services. With the ownership of a single radio station, Yates Media steadily and quietly built a broad-based combination of successful communications companies including both radio and TV.From the beginning, Yates Media has stressed the autonomy of local management, dedication to local community service, and leadership in developing and adapting new technology and services to improve media communications.
